Sweet Hazel is one of my go-tos for an amazing vegan breakfast! Anytime you go to Sweet Hazel, you’ll be getting some of the best vegan food in Salt Lake! From a vegan breakfast to dessert, they have something for every occasion! Many of the items they serve allow you to swap out for a gluten-free option too! If you have a hard time figuring out what to choose, there are a few options you should try out! Here are some recommendations from their ‘brekkie’, ‘brunchie'(only served on Saturdays and Sundays), ‘lunchie’, and dessert menus!
Tofu Scramble
The tofu scramble at Sweet Hazel is an amazing vegan take on a classic breakfast! The scramble is a wonderful mix of flavors! The pepper and onion really give it a balanced taste. The cottage fries are nicely browned and give a great crispy bite. One of my favorite parts about the scramble would have to be the bacon that is included with it! Honestly, if you have yet to taste their vegan bacon, I would get a side order to try it out!
Short Stack Buttermilk Pancakes
I’m a big fan of pancakes in general, but there’s something about the way that Sweet Hazel makes them special! They add a layer of powdered sugar, topped with butter, and once you add some syrup… perfection! Usually, I will order the pancake breakfast and have the pancakes be the last food I eat. The savory tofu scramble plate is good to start with, then the pancakes give it a nice sweet finish!
BLTA ( Bacon, lettuce, tomato, and avocado)
If you’re looking to grab some lunch from Sweet Hazel, the BLTA DOES NOT disappoint! This is another favorite of mine because of the the amazing Umaro bacon that they put in it! Plus, getting the fries on the side and having fry sauce to dip them in completes the meal! This is one of the options that allows you to swap out the bread for a gluten-free option!
Peanut Butter Cups
Sweet Hazel has a great selection of plant-based chocolates, pastries, and other desserts, but the one that I always go back to time and time again is the peanut butter cups! The snap that you get when you bite into the rich chocolate, into the soft peanut butter keeps me going back to it! I appreciate that Sweet Hazel makes veganized versions of chocolate bars and desserts! They really help satisfy the chocolate craving we all get.
